A new family of butterflies being released into the conservatory during the Butterflies Live event that happens from May 22 until October 11. There are over 24 species of butterflies to be observed flitting about during sunny days and roosting during cloudy days.

The West End Farmers Market is located at Gayton and Ridgefield, and is home to many local farmers’ wares on Wednesdays and Saturdays, if the weather cooperates. Fruits, vegetables, pies, jams, meats, jewelery, iron works and yarn are just a few of the many items that are for sale.

The United Kennel Club and Ultimate Air Dogs united together recently at Brown’s Island to host a dock diving event in which dogs jump as far as possible into a pool chasing his or her toy of choice. The dog and handler with the furthest jump wins.

An impressive picture of the center fountain at the Short Pump Town Center. It is a two story open aired mall with popular shops such as Macy’s, Nordstrom, Dillard’s, and Dick’s Sporting Goods. They are currently adding a hotel between Dick’s and Dillard’s.

P mmmm,art of the city’s James River Park, it is the popular venue for the weekly Friday Cheers concert series and the James River Beer
and Seafood Festival. Beside being a music venue, the island is also home to pathways and is
a popular place for sightseeing. Visible from the island is Belle Isle, the Manchester Bridge, and the ruins of the Richmond and Petersburg Railroad Bridge.

Monroe Park is common ground for the thousands of VCU students as the park connects much of the campus. Lawns and benches make this a relaxing area for students to take a break and play some frisbee or tan.

The James River is a must for any who love water activities. The River itself has many rocks for playing or lounging and there are companies that offer canoeing, kayaking, and rafting down the rapids that range from class I – IV.
